Our Story

We Camp We Climb began with a simple realization.

While guiding women's climbing retreats, I noticed that the spaces I was helping create rarely reflected the diversity of the broader climbing community. I found myself asking, What would it look like to create a space where BIPOC climbers could learn, grow, and build community together?

That question became the foundation for We Camp We Climb.

Today, We Camp We Climb brings BIPOC climbers together through professionally guided climbing retreats that combine expert instruction, outdoor adventure, and meaningful connection. Whether someone is climbing outside for the first time or continuing their journey on the rock, every retreat is designed to foster confidence, develop skills, and create a genuine sense of belonging.

More than a climbing retreat, Climb & Camp is a growing community built on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the outdoors, challenge themselves, and discover the joy of climbing alongside others.

Meet the Founder

Genevive Walker

I'm an AMGA-certified climbing guide, professional climber, and educator who believes climbing has the power to change lives. Over the years, I've witnessed how climbing builds confidence, resilience, and lasting friendships while connecting people to incredible places.

I founded We Camp We Climb to create the kind of climbing community I wanted to see—one where BIPOC climbers could learn from professional guides, explore beautiful climbing destinations, and build meaningful relationships in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Every retreat reflects the values that guide my work: professionalism, safety, mentorship, and community. My hope is that every participant leaves with stronger climbing skills, greater confidence, and a network of people who continue to climb together long after the retreat ends.
